Baby

Sal loves her baby doll. Many mornings, the first thing she says is "baby? ah yoo?" (baby, where are you?) Sal does everything with her babies. She dresses them, feeds them, kisses them, swims with them, reads to them, makes them clap, dance, play peekaboo, clips their toenails, brushes their teeth and hair, and rocks them in her arms. In the pictures she is feeding one her milk, and making one talk on the phone. It's so weird because I really haven't tried to encourage this doll stuff. I bought her a tool set and some tractors, and she likes them, but the dolls are definitely her favorite right now. I want to encourage gender neutral toys so she doesn't grow up thinking she needs to be too girlie, but maybe it's a losing battle. Is it possible to avoid the princess stage? Am I going to scar her by dressing her in brown, black and blue?

I think Sal is doing with her babies exactly what you do with her everyday...so basically all this means is you're a great mom. If Sal saw you whacking around with a tool set all day, she'd copy that too :) Hooray for Sal!

chloe first learned about girly stuff from her older cousins. now she and stella are full-blown girls (that ride bmx). so, we won't hand down the princess dress-ups and we'll keep the polly pockets at home to keep sal uncontaminated for as long as possible. good luck with that. disney marketing is powerful.
