Weekend with Daddy

Poster: Scott

Kate and I reached a new agreement: I will write posts and Kate will go back and add photos. So here's the first try--if you see an update you will know the photos actually showed up--or I added more boring text.

Kate seized the chance to fly to the Grand Canyon with some friends in a small plane and hike 24 miles, so I got the chance to have some time with just me and the kids.

The highlight was when Derek came over with stuffed crust pizza and we went back to check on them in Sal's room to find that Sal had put on some Paul Simon and they were having a dance jam. I was pleased with Sal's taste.

In all I think we had pizza 4 times, pasta once, and ice cream cones for dinner once. We went to the park probably 5 times. And tonight as Derek was leaving the kids were wandering together as faithful friends up and down the street. Then they begged to go on a walk, so we went around the corner to see the neighborhood cats. Milo and I lay on our backs looking up at the stars. Milo is so startlingly cute with his energy and parrot-like word repetition.

I discovered tennis-ball massage today and became a big fan. I'm currently undergoing the spine phase of my global experiment to gain empathy for all possible musculoskeletal pains.

Last weekend I had a jam session with some UC Davis professors, and two weeks ago I had a gig in Davis at the international festival. We got some grooves going, just like the good old days. I wished I had my DW bass drum for the funk tunes.
Looking forward to Laura and Emma's visit on Wednesday. Anyone who wants some perfect weather is welcome to come visit us.

Wish we could come to visit! Someday...

I won't tell Rich about your post; I think it will make him too sad he can't come hang out like that. And while I'm not sure I'd want to do a 24-mile hike :D I do wish I could kidnap Kate for a while. Just a little while. I would give her back, I promise.

but would sal choose 'one direction' or 'ke$ha' if they were options?
