"No! I teach!"

I bring Sal to violin lessons occasionally. She is very helpful, showing the students how to sniff during Allegro, helping us bow at the beginning and end, and interjecting with "good job!" and "use finger tips!" The result is that she thinks she is a violin teacher too.

Sal will not let me help her with the violin or cello. She insists that she knows what she's doing. Sound like anyone you know?

And I'm not sure what to do, because she wants to play the violin or cello everyday, but without any help. I can't decide if I should just ignore her and let her do her thing, or if I should hide the violin and take it out when she's older and ready for a teacher. Part of the problem is that I am too much of a perfectionist when it comes to children playing the violin. I look at her bow hold and I want to fix it or run screaming from the room. I know, I have a problem. But at least this is the only area in my life I'm like this. I think Scott might need to be the Suzuki mom. Or maybe she should play the tuba and I'll have no idea if she's holding it right.

Listen at your own risk.

Apparently, the problem with this one is that the violin needs to be tuned. By Sal, of course.

oh she is precious! There will be time to correct later, it doesn't make it easier to watch. She will want to learn the proper way to do things eventually. Just keep her interested and the rest will fall into place. I just love the ABC's She is seriously so cute!
