Christmas break

Well, I think I can start posting again. Scott cleared some space for pictures on the computer and we finally got another battery for our camera, although all these pictures are from Scott's iphone, so they're a little blurry.

Christmas was great, we went to Maine. Here are some highlights:

1. Skating on the lake

2. Seeing Meme dress up in roller derby paraphernalia. (You've got to love the fishnets and the purple eyeshadow)

3. Hiking to Zealand Falls Hut in the White Mountains with Scott for a two night stay while Meme and Pepe watched Sal. The hut was unheated, the temperatures reached -10 degrees, and I had moments when I wondered if I was crazy, but it was beautiful.

4. Seeing Ben for the first time since he got back from his mission.
5. Sitting in front of the fire.
6. Eating 6 pounds of fudge. (Sorry, no picture.)
7. Watching Sal open presents.

8. Watching my belly go from disguisable to undeniable.
9. Sal getting to play with her cousins from Boston.

10. The 14 hour drive home that took 17 hours in the snow.
11. Crying for two days after I found out the baby is a boy. (Sorry Oscar.)

Sal turned three. She has suddenly started asking "why?" about ten thousand times a day.

A couple days ago I was watching her friend Joshua and I heard him crying, which he doesn't often do, so I went back to Sal's room to check it out. Sal was holding Joshua down so she could brush his hair. I took her off and told her it wasn't nice to brush someone's hair if they don't want you to (hmmm... although I do it to her every day.) She started crying and said, "I don't want to be nice! I want to be the bad guy!" Now that's a sentiment I can understand. Poor Sal.

Sal still refuses to let me help her at all with the violin. But she watches closely whenever she gets to see me teach. Listen at your own risk.

Where to begin....your mom does roller derby!?!?! She gets cooler and cooler the years go by-seriously when I grow up can I be your mom??? Also, I'd like very much to squeeze Sal and give her a giant smooch. Her violin skills are enviable-she's a prodigy in the making! and finally, hooray for baby boys! Oscar has two awesome parents!

Love this recap. I don't know anything except boys, but I'm pretty into them. True, the clothes aren't as cute as girl clothes, but they are so much fun and hopefully less moody when they are teenagers.

I can empathize with the million "whys?" I get everyday from Caleb

chloe says, "no fair! she gets a real american girl doll?!"
my poor, deprived kids. they just have the costco version.

Well, the doll was mine when I was a kid, we're borrowing it from Meme... I know it was kind of cheap to "give" it to her for her birthday, but we only had one present for her and she's too young to know the difference.
